Job Summary
The Retail Store Head is fully responsible for the overall performance of the store, including sales growth, profitability, operations, people management, and customer experience. This role provides strategic leadership, ensures brand standards, and drives sustainable business results.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business & Sales Leadership
Own store P&L and achieve revenue, margin, and cost targets.
Develop and execute sales strategies to maximize store performance.
Analyze KPIs, sales trends, and customer data to drive business decisions.
Lead seasonal planning, promotions, and launches.
2. Store Operations Excellence
Ensure smooth end-to-end store operations.
Maintain high standards of visual merchandising, hygiene, and compliance.
Oversee store opening/closing, security, and safety protocols.
Ensure adherence to company SOPs and statutory requirements.
3. Team Leadership & People Development
Lead, coach, and develop store management and frontline teams.
Drive performance culture through goal setting, reviews, and feedback.
Manage manpower planning, recruitment, training, and retention.
Build succession plans for key store roles.
4. Customer Experience Management
Ensure exceptional customer service standards across the store.
Handle high-level customer escalations and resolve issues effectively.
Implement customer engagement and loyalty initiatives.
5. Inventory & Loss Prevention
Oversee inventory planning, stock accuracy, and replenishment.
Control shrinkage, pilferage, and damages.
Lead audits, stock counts, and loss prevention initiatives.
6. Financial Control & Reporting
Monitor expenses and optimize operational costs.
Review daily, weekly, and monthly MIS and performance reports.
Present store performance reviews to senior management.
7. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
Coordinate with HO teams (merchandising, supply chain, HR, finance).
Manage vendors, maintenance teams, and service providers.
Ensure timely issue resolution and smooth store functioning.
Required Skills & Qualifications
✅ Graduate in any discipline (MBA/Retail Management preferred)
✅ Minimum 8 years of retail experience, with leadership of large teams
✅ Proven track record in driving sales and store profitability
✅ Strong leadership, decision-making, and people management skills
✅ Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
✅ Strong analytical skills and business acumen
✅ Proficiency in POS systems, MIS, and MS Excel
Preferred Experience
Experience in large-format retail (apparel, FMCG, electronics, lifestyle)
Handling high-footfall, high-revenue stores
Multi-department or flagship store exposure
